We are pleased to offer the Short Range Certificate (SRC) Course which covers all aspects of Ship to Shore VHF Radio.

 

This is a one day Course, with assessment , which on successful completion leads to your SRC Operators Licence.

 

We use ICOM M421 Radios especially adapted so we can practise sending Mayday, Urgency and Safety messages as well as ship to shore and inter ship without launching lifeboats, helicopters or otherwise affecting maritime safety!   There is ample opportunity to practise radio technique and become comfortable using the radios.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One of our ICOM M421 sets listening on Channel 16.

The Course covers use of the Marine VHF Radio (fixed or portable), and includes the use of  DSC (Selective Calling) and GMDSS (Distress Signalling System) facilities.

 

If you have the “old”  VHF Radio Restricted Operators Licence you will need to gain the SRC for your new set!

 

The cost is £115.00 per person , inclusive of the MCA Operators Licence fees.

 

If you have 4 or more wishing to take the SRC we may be able to come to you: anywhere in the UK!  We can also provide 1:1 tuition for a small additional cost - ask for details.

 

It is also possible to take the SRC Examination without attending the Course - the cost being £85.00 including MCA/RYA fees.   Just let us know your preferred dates,
